History of Granada

Granada is a city in the Spain which is a major tourist attraction. Hills border the city. It has a coastal area that is very warm. It also has a hillside that is cool. One can see the difference in the climate in the same place. The scenic beauty of the place is amazing. This is a wonderful place to relax and spend a vacation. Here we are going to know more about the history of the city called Granada.

Granada has a lot of history and it is very unique. This place has undergone a lot of destruction because of wars and other natural calamities. Political aid and the military support for Granada were obtained from Morocco. Once the morocco’s people came they slowly started ruling the place and changed the rule to military rule. Slowly the kingdom saw its demise.

The economy of the central government of the Granada mainly was dependent on the income from the silk industry. It also was dependent on the external trade. The exports in the city did very well because of the way the city is placed. The chief port is there in the city which makes it really easy to export. The name of the chief port is the Malaga which begins from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. Granada has an eye on the Strait of Gibraltar rent villas spain. There were lots of rulers who wanted to capture the Strait of Gibraltar. This was going in for several centuries. However only in 1306 the Strait of Gibraltar was captured by the king called Muhammad. But then after the war that happened in the 1340 the Castile took over the Gibraltar Strait. This was called as the Rio Salado battle. It was only during this time the Alhambra was also built in the city.

The etymology of the name of the city is very simple. Granada in Spanish means pomegranate. This place was called as Granada because pomegranate was available in plenty in this city. The city’s land is very fertile even today. One gets to see a lot of greenery.

Initially it was the Iberian who was ruling the city. This was probably sometime during the fifth century B, C. after this the Romans settled here and only after that the Moors of the Spain started controlling the place. After the Moors came the Romans slowly fell and there were more of the Moors.
